Thwarted by insomnia yet again last night, I spent a better part of this evening napping. Now, wide awake, I return to the labyrinth of the internet, to only drown in the never ending pools and puddles of pretty things impersonating art. Every now and again, I find a gem among the dirty pebbles.
Lush Punk is an Australian based Etsy shop, stocked with a mix of Gothic, Noir, Kawaii, and Punk designs.
I used to find the art of accessories rather daunting. Truthfully, I didn’t understand the discretion that was to be used with a “statement piece”, and should be worn “in moderation”. In my younger years, I simply looked as if I fell headlong into my grandmother’s costume jewelry box. In my teens, when I started piercing various parts of my body, I lost interest in things like necklaces, or bejeweled cuffs, thinking I would end up looking like a tacky Christmas tree. Nowadays, as my personal style has streamlined, and become more personally coherent, my eyes tend to wander to the pretty shimmery things in windows.
I came across Lush Punk’s store while trolling Haute Macabre, a wonderful site dedicated to all things dark, beautiful, elegant, and fashionable.
Instantly, my eyes are drawn to the Black Rose Cameo Brooch, obviously. Call it a cliche, my loves, but I do indeed adore all things black, and roses are no exception! Truthfully, if I believed in the silliness of Valentines Day, and the ridiculousness of all of its Hallmark traditions, I would be far more swayed romantically if my love brought me black roses. He would rack up some major points.
The craftsmanship impeccable, the prices unbeatable, Lush Punk’s elegance resonates that of an old world, lost in the hubbub of modern times. It is sure to remain on the top of my list.
